Biography
Jorge Campos (born October 15, 1966 in Acapulco, Mexico) is one of the most notable Mexican soccer players in the 1990s. Although usually playing as a goalkeeper, he was also a particularly good attacker, making him an especially interesting player. Often he would start a game in goal, but transfer to the attack later in the match. His trademark neon goalkeeper suits made him the favorite of children.

In the Mexican league, Campos played for Pumas, Atlante, Cruz Azul, Tigres, and Puebla. He also played in Major League Soccer in the league’s first three seasons, for the Los Angeles Galaxy and the Chicago Fire. Amazingly, Campos scored 35 goals for his teams, including an incredible 14 in the 1989-90 season for UNAM.

Campos started for Mexico in the 1994 and 1998 World Cups and had compiled 129 caps for his country. He was assistant coach to head coach Ricardo LaVolpe of the Mexican national team in 2004.
