Cristiano Ronaldo dos Santos Aveiro, (born 5 February 1985) commonly known as Cristiano Ronaldo, is a Portuguese footballer who plays as a winger or a forward for Spanish club Real Madrid and serves as captain of the Portuguese national team. Ronaldo currently holds the distinction of being the most expensive player in football history after being transferred from Manchester United to Real Madrid in a transfer deal worth £80 million (€94m, US$132m). In addition, his contract with Real Madrid, in which he is to be paid £11 million per year over the following six years, makes him the highest paid football player in the world.

Ronaldo began his career as a youth player for Andorinha, where he played for two years, then moved to Nacional. In 1997, he made a move to Portuguese giants Sporting CP. Ronaldo’s precocious talent caught the attention of Manchester United manager Alex Ferguson and he signed the 18-year-old for £12.24 million in 2003. The following season, Ronaldo won his first club honour, the FA Cup, and reached the Euro 2004 final with Portugal, in which tournament he scored his first international goal.

Sheyi Emmanuel Adebayor (born 26 February 1984) is a Togolese professional footballer who plays as a striker for Manchester City in the Premier League. He played in the same position for the Togo national team before he announced his retirement from international football on 12 April 2010. Adebayor previously played for Metz, AS Monaco and Arsenal, and was voted African Footballer of the Year for 2008.In January 2010, Adebayor was one of the players involved when the Togo national team’s bus came under a gunfire attack on the way to the African Cup of Nations in Angola.

Rio Gavin Ferdinand (born 7 November 1978) is an English footballer. He plays at centre back for Manchester United in the Premier League and in 2010, became captain of the England national team, though an injury received prior to that year’s World Cup forced him to be replaced by Steven Gerrard for the tournament. He has amassed 78 caps for England in total, and has been a member of three FIFA World Cup squads.

Known for his composure on the ball, Ferdinand began his football career playing for various youth teams, finally settling at West Ham United where he progressed through the youth ranks and made his professional Premier League debut in 1996. He became a fan favourite, winning the ‘Hammer of the Year award’ the following season. He earned his first senior international cap in a match against Cameroon in 1997, setting a record as the youngest defender to play for England at the time. His achievements and footballing potential attracted Leeds United and he transferred to the club for a record-breaking fee of £18 million. He spent two seasons at the club, becoming the team captain in 2001.

Michelle WieMichelle Sung Wie (Korean: Wie Seong-mi Hangul: born October 11, 1989) is an American professional golfer who plays on the LPGA Tour. In 2006, she was named in a Time magazine article: “one of 100 people who shape our world.” At age 10, she became the youngest player to qualify for USGA amateur championship. Wie would also become the

youngest winner of the US Women’s Amateur public links and the youngest to qualify for a LPGA tour event. Wie turned professional shortly before her 16th birthday accompanied by an enormous amount of hype and endorsements.

Professional career / Pre-LPGA membership (2005-2006): Having turned professional Wie was not a member of any professional tour. LPGA Tour membership age requirements require a golfer to be 18 although some players such as Morgan Pressel and Aree Song have successfully petitioned for an exemption to join at age 17. Wie chose not to request an exemption and was thus only allowed to participate in a limited number of LPGA Tour events when given a sponsor’s exemption from 2005 to 2008. She also chose not to participate in the Tour’s Qualifying Tournaments (or “Q-School”) until December 2008 when she finished 7th to gain LPGA membership for the 2009 season.
