UIL Realignment: Texas Shuffles Alignment Of University Interscholastic League For 2010

An anticipated UIL realignment in Texas was proposed today by the University Interscholastic League, providing new classifications and divisions for Texas athletics programs involving football and basketball.

Documents showing all of the new alignments for high school football and basketball can be found at the University Interscholastic League Web site.

If the UIL Web site does not load — it has been suffering temporary outages today — the best place to see alignments you’re interested in is local news Web sites, such as The Houston Chronicle, Palestine Herald, or Killeen Daily Herald.

Schools may appeal the realignment by Feb. 11, according to a UIL press release.

According to the release, “Schools wishing to change districts may do so by getting a vote from both the district to which they have been assigned and the district to which they wish to change.”

The University Interscholastic League, founded by The University of Texas at Austin, is an overseeing body for public school debate and athletic teachers.
